Two bedroom projects in new Valencia developments: one for a young couple captivated by Scandinavian restraint and smart technology; the other for a family with Moroccan roots seeking to recreate the atmosphere of a Moroccan riad in Mediterranean climate. Both commissions arrived nearly simultaneously and required integrated solutions with upholstered headboards and LED lighting, yet that's where the resemblance ended. We executed them in parallel within one production cycle, exercising our flexibility: from crisp white supermate to deep turquoise velvet, from handleless facades to copper Moroccan wall sconces.
The Challenge
First client: IT professionals in their early thirties, owners of a 45 m² studio in Ruzafa. Bedroom 4×3.5 m, ceiling 2.7 m with decorative plasterboard soffit featuring smooth curves—all furniture and LED tape had to integrate seamlessly without harsh shadows. Maximum storage (wardrobe in hallway), 180×200 bed with integrated nightstands, no visible handles, smartphone control of lighting and blinds. Mid-range budget, tight timeline: IKEA furniture for the living room arriving in one month, wanted everything completed simultaneously. Second client: family with three children, parents originally from Morocco, renting a townhouse in Alboraya. Master bedroom 16 m², standard 2.5 m ceiling, but the wall behind the bed at a slight angle (structural constraint), plus two side windows—traditional symmetrical headboard impossible. Wife dreams of turquoise velvet; husband firmly opposes 'boudoir' aesthetics, wants dark wood and restraint. Additional requirement: mirror above the bed (spatial expansion tradition), but not cold modern glass—rather a frame like old Fez houses. And proper wall sconces, not recessed spots—"real light you can touch."
Our Solution
First project: 18 mm Egger chipboard light oak Sonoma for cabinet casings (two units 50 cm wide, height 2.65 m accommodating the soffit), MDF 19 mm fronts painted supermate white RAL 9003 with two coats Italian enamel and intermediate sanding. No PVC film: at this level of white, any yellowing within two years destroys minimalism. Handleless fronts with Blum TIP-ON Blumotion soft-close—press for 2 cm release, pull for full opening. Interior with chipboard shelves on adjustable Hettich metal supports (32 mm increments), lower drawers on Hettich InnoTech slides, 40 kg capacity, full-extension damper. Bed frame welded from 40×40 mm steel profiles, clad in matching chipboard; built-in nightstands as 45×35 cm console drawers on InnoTech. Headboard: 15 mm plywood, 40 mm furniture foam (25 kg/m³ density), synthetic velvet (client allergic to naturals), vertical channel stitching 18 cm pitch. Mounted to concealed rail, removable for future fabric changes. LED tape warm white 3000K under bed base, power supply hidden in submatrix cavity, control via Tuya Smart Life. Most complex detail: fitting cabinet tops to curved soffit—cardboard template on site, router the casing top with 3 cm clearance, gap sealed with 24V LED tape plus diffuser—floating effect. Second project: started with headboard: turquoise velvet (Turkish, Martindale test 100k cycles) plus 19 mm MDF panel burgundy-brown (RAL 3005 + RAL 8017—Bosqo's colorist matched on third attempt from riad door photo). Modular headboard: central upholstered section 160 cm with vertical channel stitching, side panels in Egger chipboard Dijon walnut with 3D routing (carved panel effect). Mirror commissioned from Santa Catalina workshop—2 cm beveled edge, solid beech frame stained dark walnut, French cleat mount. LED under bed warm amber 2700K. Copper Moroccan sconces sourced by client in Alicante; we concealed wiring behind headboard and positioned outlet boxes 130 cm above floor. Bed: 40 mm solid pine frame, Egger walnut chipboard sides, built-in nightstand consoles with black matte round handles (GTV hardware, carefully selected by client). Hettich InnoTech slides, 40 kg, damper. Wall angle problem—left nightstand sat 4 cm closer. Solution: decorative asymmetry—left 40 cm wide, right 48 cm, visually balanced by centered mirror.
The Result
First project assembled and installed in 2.5 weeks: one week production (MDF paint 4-day cure), one week textile assembly and packing, three days installation with smart controls. Clients enjoy 'wake' scene—blinds open, LED under bed softly rises over 10 minutes; 'sleep' mode powers everything down. Cabinets hold seasonal wardrobe for two plus bedding sets; nightstands store books, tablets, chargers (USB ports integrated into headboard sides). 3-year warranty; at six months we adjusted one hinge after accidental overload. Second project three weeks—more color debate (client asked 'slightly redder,' then 'slightly darker'). Two-day installation: 18 kg mirror on load-bearing anchors, client's electrician for sconces. Family delighted—wife says sleeping feels "like a Marrakech hotel"; husband appreciates dark wood not feeling gloomy thanks to turquoise and mirror. LED under bed serves as nightlight for youngest—soft amber illuminates the path without waking.
